League of Legends is giving its veteran spearmaster a new look—Xin Zhao is getting a full visual update that brings his steadfast Runeterra spirit to life, while keeping his gameplay intact.
The Seneschal of Demacia has been around for 15 years on Summoners Rift, and its ageing base model has long lagged behind modern champions and skins. The developer has finally delivered on players’ requests and is completely refreshing his in-game model, animations, and older legacy skins with outdated visuals to breathe fresh life into him.

Even though Xin Zhao hasn’t appeared in the recent VGU polls that the developer created for fans, he desperately needed a visual makeover. Along with his base skin, his current rare vaulted cosmetics will also be made available during patches 25.17 and 25.18 for players to get a shot at adding these skins to their collection. At the end of Act One, there will also be an Epic rarity skin for the champion with the new visuals.
The developer has also made key improvements to his old skins, like Commando and Imperial Xin Zhao, and their prices will also go up from 520 to 750 RP. These skins will be available at their original price until Patch 25.17, giving players a last chance to purchase these vintage skins before the prices are increased to match the current pricing.
Xin Zhao and Yunara have already played significant roles in Ionia’s storyline, and season three should add LeBlanc and Atakhan into the equation, who will play major roles for the lore. Xin’s makeover could also be for Riot’s next animated show if it manages to make its way to Demacia and Ionia.
Last year, Skarner received the VGU, and it completely transformed him from an overlooked relic into a fully modernized champion with new visuals, abilities, and lore. Xin Zhao’s visual overhaul will release with Patch 25.17 in season three, along with the unvaulted legacy skins for the players.
